The application happens inside the Emirates, filed by the party sponsoring your visit. Which is why the identity of the hands filing your paperwork is not a detail; it is the mechanism.

• The airline route: book on a UAE carrier and it arranges the visa — the condition being that you fly on its metal.
• The licensed agent route: ticket bought through the agent, hotel booking maintained through the stay — the classic package arrangement.
• The hotel route: your booked hotel in the Emirates arranges entry against the reservation itself.
• The desk route: all of the above, chosen for your dates rather than guessed at — which is rather the point of a desk.

03 /The one everybody forgets: the five-year visa

Buried in the UAE's visa menu is the sleeper option for frequent travellers: a multiple-entry tourist visa valid five years, open to every nationality, self-sponsored — no host required. It asks for a documented bank balance of four thousand US dollars or equivalent held across the previous six months, health insurance valid for the Emirates, and a return or onward ticket. For the family that treats Dubai as the default weekend, it converts the per-trip ritual into a five-year membership — and it is the least-discussed smart buy in the whole system.

04 /The fine print that bites

• Passport validity of six months — the boring rule, non-negotiable at every counter in the Emirates.
• Overstay fines accrue per day beyond the visa's life, with no grace period worth relying on — the dates on the permit are the dates on the plan.
• The UAE's own portal warns against fake agents: verify before you pay, and never scatter passport copies across the bazaar. The warning exists because the fraud does.
• A botched first UAE file leaves a trail — the clean first file is also the cheapest one.
